Totally amazing TeamHonk Relay

sport relief relay

This Monday, 20th January 2014, I was proud to take part in the TeamHonk Blogger’s relay and carry a baton from my home town of Worthing to meet Maddie from Gammon & Chips and Katie from Hurrah for Gin in Shoreham. I ran the nearly 4 miles with the baton with Fin in the buggy to keep me company and wave the baton to keep me going! You see, I have done a bit of running in the past but I’ve not exactly been committed lately, especially after the Christmas onslaught.

Team Honk is a team of three web bloggers who have worked with Comic Relief since 2012. Last July they were approached by Comic Relief to come up with fundraising ideas for Sport Relief 2014. And the TeamHonk Relay was the result – a person-to-person relay from Land’s End to John O’Groats. There is a number of teams making their way across the country over almost 3,000 miles in any way possible, together with their family and friends by walking, running, roller skating, mini scooting, swimming, on boats, trains and buses, in fancy dress, with buggies, even real-life elephants are said to be involved!

The relay started in Land’s End on 12th January and on Monday it was Team Brighton’s turn. After my run, the baton made it’s way along the coast to Eastbourne, Maddie from Gammon & Chips and Sarah from aFieldSomewhere rocked crocodile and leopard onesies and scootered to Brighton Marina to meet Di from SuperLucky in a Ninja outfit who then 2.5 miles down the road in Rottingdean handed the baton to Anya from Older Single Mum. The final leg was completed by the awesome Matt from Murcia Golf Properties who cycled a whole 16 miles for us to Eastbourne!

What a fantastic effort from everyone involved, including the girls in the background like the lovely Chelle McCann who live-blogged on BrightonMums and tweeted the whole day helping us smash our team target of £500!

And of course, there is still time to sponsor the Brighton team here: http://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/brightonteamhonk

To give £5 to Sport Relief towards the massive £20,000 target for all teams you can also text “HONK” to 70005.
